The iPhone 14 series was launched globally at Apple’s ‘Far Out’ event on Wednesday. After several leaks and rumors over the past few months, Apple’s latest series of smartphones is finally at the fore. This series includes iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. While the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro are smaller models on the one hand, the iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro Max, on the other hand, target the big screen enthusiasts. The notch has been dropped from the Pro series and a pill-shaped hole-punch cutout has been used instead, which now houses the front camera and Face ID technology.

Also, while the non-Pro model runs on last year’s Apple A15 Bionic SoC, the Pro model gets the latest Bionic A16 SoC. The latest smartphones come with e-SIM activation without Wi-Fi in the US. For the first time, iPhone models in the US will not have a SIM tray. The smartphone also comes with Satellite Emergency Communication Technology, which can be used to send emergency SOS to the satellite. The feature will roll out to the US and Canada and will be free for two years with the latest range.

iPhone 14 Specifications

The iPhone 14 gets a flat-edge aluminum frame, which gets a ceramic shield material on the front and is equipped with an IP68 rating like the previous generation. The handset flaunts a 6.1-inch OLED display, which is said to be better in terms of brightness and color reproduction than last year’s handset. It is said that it supports 1200 nits peak brightness and Dolby Vision. It gets Apple’s A15 Bionic SoC, which was included in last year’s iPhone 13 series. Apart from this, Face ID technology has also been included in it as usual.

Apple doesn’t officially reveal the amount of RAM and battery capacity of each model, however, third-party teardowns should reveal more in the coming weeks. Apple says that the iPhone 14 will be able to deliver a longer run time than last year’s iPhone 13 and it is said that it comes with the best battery life ever in an iPhone.

As far as the cameras are concerned, its dual camera setup includes an ultrawide and a new 12-megapixel primary camera with f/1.5 aperture and sensor-based stabilization. Apple claims that there is a 49 percent improvement in the quality of photos taken in low light and also claims that Night Mode is now twice as fast. There’s also a new 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera on the front with autofocus. Apple says it is implementing its Deep Fusion image processing into the image pipeline, which will improve low-light performance and color rendering. This technology has been named “Photonic Engine”. Video recording also gets a new stabilization mode called Action Mode, which uses the entire sensor for gimbal-esque stabilization.

iPhone 14 Plus Specifications

The iPhone 14 Plus has the same hardware as the iPhone 14 except for a larger screen size and battery backup. The handset flaunts a 6.7-inch OLED display and Apple claims that the iPhone 14 Plus offers the best battery backup. All other specifications are the same as the iPhone 14.

iPhone 14 Pro Specifications

As far as the Pro model is concerned, Apple has used surgical grade stainless steel in it. The iPhone 14 Pro sports a 6.1-inch AMOLED display with Apple’s ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate feature. The panels on the Pro model can scale from 10Hz to 120Hz, and can adjust their refresh rate to deliver smooth motion and a power-efficient system experience.

Furthermore, this model gets Apple’s new in-house A16 Bionic SoC, which is a total 6-core CPU with two high-performance and four efficient cores, along with a 16-core Neural Engine. It has been claimed that the performance of this chipset is up to 50 percent better than the previous chip.

For photos and videos, Apple has gone a step further in terms of the Pro model’s camera hardware. There is a new 48-megapixel primary camera sensor, which is paired with two 12-megapixel sensors for telephoto and ultra-wide angle photos. The primary wide camera sensor is paired with an f/1.5 aperture lens. It is claimed that while using the tripod, it can draw in more light thanks to less noise, faster shutter and longer bracket. Computational photography now allows all cameras, including telephoto, to work with night mode. The third camera gets a telephoto lens with 3X optical zoom.

iPhone 14 Pro Max Specifications

Equipped with the same hardware as the iPhone 14 Pro, the iPhone 14 Pro Max is an option for those who prefer a larger display. The top-of-the-line handset flaunts a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate feature. Apple claims that the iPhone 14 Pro Max gives more battery backup than its previous model.
