MI VS KKR: Kolkata Knight Riders lost the match won on Tuesday, at one time they needed 31 runs in five overs and had 6 wickets in their hands but despite this they lost against Mumbai Indians.

New Delhi. The fifth match of the Indian Premier League 2021 saw something that hardly anyone could have expected. Kolkata Knight Riders lost the match against Mumbai Indians (MI VS KKR) by 10 runs. There was a time when Kolkata team was winning this match very easily but in the last five overs, the bowlers of Mumbai Indians overturned the game completely. Let us tell you four big reasons for the sensational defeat of Kolkata Knight Riders.

Nitish Rana remained the biggest reason for the defeat of Kolkata Knight Riders. Nitish Rana was fully set on the difficult pitch of Chennai and he had scored a half-century but in the 15th over, he tried to play a big shot forcibly on the ball of Rahul Chahar and he was stumped out. Nitish Rana made 57 runs in 47 balls, but he went away by throwing his wicket. The batsman set on this wicket needed to play till the last but Nitish Rana made a mistake.

After the dismissal of Nitish Rana, Kolkata needed just 31 runs in 30 balls. On the second ball of the 16th over, an experienced batsman like Shakib Al Hasan lost his wicket by playing a very bad shot. Nitish Rana was out two balls ago and despite this Shakib lost his wicket by playing a bad shot.

The third major reason for Kolkata’s defeat was Andre Russell. Russell got one or two chances in this match. In the 16th over, Russell’s catch was dropped by Krunal on his own ball and Jaspreet Bumrah also dripped Russell’s catch. Russell could not take advantage of these occasions and he was out in the last over. Russell scored just 9 runs in 15 balls.

Kolkata scored just 20 runs in the last 5 overs and their 4 wickets fell. Kolkata lost the wickets of Nitish Rana, Shakib Al Hasan, Andre Russell and Pat Cummins. Kolkata’s last 30 balls were overshadowed. Otherwise she dominated the Mumbai Indians for the entire 35 overs.
