IPL 2026 may have 84 matches and the number of matches may increase to 94 in the 2027 season. The reason for increasing the number of matches may be media rights. If we recall IPL 2024, this tournament started on 22 March and lasted till 26 May, in the final of which KKR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Foreign players are in luck

It is good news for all the 10 IPL franchises that almost all full ICC member countries have allowed their players to play in the IPL for the next three seasons. Let us tell you that before the 2025 mega auction, BCCI had issued a new rule. Under this, if a foreign player does not become a part of the mega auction, then he will not be able to play for the next two seasons. On the other hand, if a foreign player withdraws his name after being bought in the auction, then there is a provision of punishment for him to face a ban of two years.
