He has clearly said that the IPL has not been canceled, it has been postponed. Talking to Star Sports, Rajiv Shukla said, ‘One thing I want to clarify is that the IPL has not been canceled. It has been avoided. There will be remaining matches of IPL-14. At the appropriate time, when the situation of Kovid improves, a decision will be taken about it.
The BCCI vice-president said that the report suggesting the suspension is only for 5 days or a week, the same is not true. He said that there is speculation that after five days or a week the tournament will start again, it is not possible.
Due to this, IPL was postponed
For the last few days, there were cases of corona in some teams of IPL, after which the BCCI had to take a decision to suspend the tournament. Amid the Corona crisis, this time the IPL was held in India. Initially, the bio-bubble was prepared, which claimed that there would be no risk of spreading the infection. But within the last two days, many teams fell victim to Corona.
On Monday, two players, including Varun Chakraborty of Kolkata Knight Riders, were hit by Corona, after which the match between Kolkata and Bengaluru was postponed. After the KKR match, the entire team of Delhi Capitals was quarantined. On Monday evening, three members of Chennai Super Kings also came to know about Corona’s grip, including bowling coach Laxmipathy Balaji.
On Tuesday, Wriddhiman Saha of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Amit Mishra of Delhi Capitals were also found to be Corona positive. After the continuous corona cases, the crisis on the IPL was increasing. In such a situation, the BCCI decided to postpone it.
