When booking train tickets online, IRCTC may also ask you for PAN, Aadhar or passport information.
IRCTC Booking Update: The next time you go online to book train tickets, IRCTC may ask you for PAN, Aadhaar or Passport information. IRCTC is set to bring about major changes in the fraud cases related to railway ticket booking.
IRCTC new system for ticket booking
IRCTC is about to make a new change in ticket booking. In it you need to attach your Aadhaar-PAN number. To book train tickets through the IRCTC website or processor, you must enter your Aadhaar, PAN or Passport number when you log in. The move is aimed at preventing railway ticket agents from using the online ticket booking system.
Train ticket ban will be linked with Aadhar
Director General of Railway Security Force Arun Kumar said that the Railways is working on a project to link the identity documents with the IRCTC . He said that previously the action against fraud was based on the way humans detect and act, but that action is not enough to prevent fraud. Therefore, we have decided to attach it with PAN, Aadhar or other identity documents when logging in to book the ticket. This way we can stop the ticket booking scam.
The new system will be implemented soon
Our work on Arunkumar Adar, who first said that we should create a network for this, is almost over. Rapid action is being taken to implement the new process. Arunkumar said anti-fraud operations were launched in October and November 2019, after which 14,257 people were arrested for fraud. So far, fake tickets worth Rs 28.34 crore have been seized.
Arun Kumar said the Rail Security Processor has been developed to facilitate the filing of complaints related to fraudulent matters. There are also plans to install CCTV cameras at 6049 stations and all passenger train compartments, a Railway Security Force official said.
