IRCTC Down: IRCTC website and app went down, many passengers were unable to book Tatkal tickets

Till now IRCTC has not issued any official statement regarding this nor has given any time limit for its solution.

IRCTC Down: The website and mobile application of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) are facing glitches, due to which many passengers are unable to book train tickets. Many users reported the problem on social media, stating that they are unable to use the platform for ticket booking.

Down Detector, a service that tracks online disruptions, has also reported this. It was reported that more than 2,500 users were affected due to this. Most of the complaints were registered regarding the IRCTC website, while 28 percent of the reports were related to the mobile app.

On trying to use the app, users got a message that read, “Unable to take action due to maintenance activity.”

This indicates that there were problems using the platform. So far, IRCTC has not issued any official statement in this regard nor has it given any time frame for its resolution.

Apart from the service disruption, IRCTC shares also saw a decline of about 1 percent at the beginning of the trading session. In the past week, the stock has declined nearly 4 per cent, and year-to-date (YTD) the stock has delivered a negative return of over 10 per cent for investors in 2024.

This is not the first case of IRCTC outage, the platform has faced similar problems earlier as well, causing a lot of trouble to users trying to book train tickets. With the current disruption, IRCTC users and investors alike are waiting for the company’s response.
