IRCTC Economy Meals: Good news for railway passengers. Indian Railways (Indian Railways) has launched a program to provide cheap meals for passengers. South Central Railway has announced that you can get cheap meals at these 4 railway stations in Telugu states.
Indian Railways has another good news for railway passengers. Railways offer ‘Economy Meals’ i.e. cheap meals to provide good food to the passengers at low cost. As part of this program, two types of meals are offered at a very low price.
Railways has started the ‘Economy Meals’ programme, especially for the passengers traveling in general coaches. Passengers can get economy meal for just Rs.20k. The cost of combo meal is Rs.50 only. To get such a meal in a hotel or restaurant one has to spend Rs.100.
‘Economy meals’ are available for railway passengers at Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal and Renigunta railway stations under South Central Railway. Initially, the Railways is offering ‘Economy Meals’ at these four railway stations on an experimental basis. Soon, ‘Economy Meals’ will be available to passengers at more railway stations as well.
‘Economy Meals’ can be purchased at Jan Aahar food outlets and refreshment rooms operated by IRCTC. This meal is also available on railway station platforms. Railway passengers have to pay only Rs.20 for economy meal and Rs.50 for combo meal. There is no need to pay even a single rupee more than that.
‘Economy Meals’ counters are available on the platform near the general bogies. Only authorized vendors sell economy meals to passengers. This meal with southern cuisine is available at Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal and Renigunta railway stations.
Indian Railways regularly transports millions of passengers across the country to their respective destinations. Most of them travel in general bogies. Railways has requested passengers traveling in general coaches to avail the economy meals facility.
