IRCTC and Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Association of India (FHRAI) have entered into an agreement to provide better stay facilities to the tourists.

If you are fond of traveling, then there is good news for you. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI) have entered into an agreement to provide better stay facilities to the tourists. Under this agreement, FHRAI members will be able to make their hotel rooms available for booking with the help of IRCTC and its associate website.

According to a statement, under this agreement, a discount of 2 per cent will be given in the commission given to IRCTC hotels with three-star hotels or its equivalent. To get a discount the hotel must be affiliated with FHRAI or its regional associations.

More than 55 thousand hotels will get the facility to choose

FBRAI vice-president Gurbakshish Singh Kohli said, “This agreement will allow IRCTC users to choose their preferred hotel from over 55,000 hotels across the country.” All these hotels are of three star or above category and all meet international standards of basic amenities, cleanliness and safety.

Kohli further said that this will allow IRCTC users to book quality rooms anywhere in the country while booking their travel through IRCTC portal.

The partnership between IRCTC and FHRAI is for a period of three years and it can be extended every three years with consent without any fee. In addition, one-time integration fee applicable to all new applications received by 31 July 2021 will be waived. There is no need to go through any separate process to classify members as hotels with equivalent facilities can obtain certification by FHRAI.

Hoteliers affected by Kovid-19 will get relief

According to FHRAI Vice President Surendra Kumar Jaiswal, the partnership has raised hopes for distressed hoteliers whose business was badly hit during the Kovid-19 lockdown. This is a major initiative by FHRAI and Modi government as hotel and restaurant members are upset due to online aggregators. He said that some OTAs carry heavy commission as well as other hidden charges.
