IRCTC Ticket Booking: If you miss the booking of general and Tatkal tickets, then adopt this surefire method

IRCTC Ticket Booking In this festive season, everyone wants to go home on special occasions like Diwali and Chhath. But sometimes due to heavy crowd, it is difficult to book railway tickets (Tatkal Train Booking). Booking general and Tatkal tickets is disappointing. In such a situation, you can try booking a current ticket. Let us know the process of booking it in detail.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (ITCTC) provides many great facilities to the railway passengers. With this, you can do everything from booking railway tickets to ordering food and drinks during the journey.

But, there are some facilities of ITCTC, which not many people know about. Such as current ticket. Under this facility, you can book railway tickets even on the day of travel. But, for this, some things need to be taken care of.

Why do you need a current ticket

Railways usually opens train ticket booking three months before the train departure date. On the other hand, booking of Tatkal quota tickets opens one day before the scheduled journey of the train. If you book a general ticket at the beginning, you get a seat. On the other hand, the number of tickets in Tatkal tickets is very limited. In such a situation, the chances of booking getting confirmed are very less.

If you missed booking both general and Tatkal tickets, you can try the current ticket system.

What is a current ticket?

You must have booked general, waiting or Tatkal tickets from IRCTC’s platform. All these tickets are booked before the chart is prepared. But, you can book a current ticket from IRCTC’s website or app after the chart is prepared. In this, the seats that remain vacant after the chart is prepared are booked.

How to book a current ticket

Current tickets are booked on the day of travel, so certain things must be kept in mind. You can book a current ticket through this process.

Click on the ‘Trains’ button in the IRCTC app and type in your destination and source station.

The departure date should be the same as the day you are booking the ticket.

After selecting the source, destination and departure date, click on the ‘Train Search’ button.

Now you will see a list of all the available trains on that route on the screen.

Click on the ticket category of your choice – such as CC, EC, 3AC, 3E, etc.

If a current ticket is available for that train, it will appear as ‘CURR_AVBL-‘

This facility is more likely to get a current ticket on less busy routes.

On the other hand, there is less chance of booking a current ticket on routes with high demand.
