RAC and waiting list ticket refund
If your ticket is still in RAC and waiting list even after chart preparation and you cancel your ticket 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time of the train, then cancellation charge of Rs 60 will be levied in sleeper class. While there will be a deduction of Rs 65 in AC class. The rest of the money will be refunded.
4 hour rule for confirmed ticket
If your ticket is confirmed and the journey is canceled suddenly, then a lot of care has to be taken about the ticket cancellation charge. Because, according to the rules of cancellation of railway ticket, special care is taken of the timing during the cancellation in the confirmed ticket. If the ticket is confirmed and if the ticket is not canceled before 4 hours from the scheduled departure time of the train, then no refund will be given from the railway side.
What is the rule for cancellation of confirmed ticket?
- If your ticket is confirmed then…
- 48 hours before the departure time of the train, a cancellation charge of Rs 60 per passenger in General Class (2S) will have to be paid.
- There will be a deduction of Rs 120 in sleeper class.
- A charge of Rs 180 will be deducted in AC chair car and third AC.
- There will be a deduction of Rs 200 in second AC, Rs 240 in first AC and executive class. Along with this, GST will also be applicable.
- GST is not charged on any sleeper class ticket, whereas the railways charges GST on AC class ticket.
How much will the cut be?
- In case of confirmed train tickets, if the ticket is canceled within 48 hours and up to 12 hours before the scheduled departure time, then 25% of the total amount will be deducted.
- If the ticket is canceled before 4 hours and between 12 hours before the scheduled departure time of the train, then half the money i.e. 50% of the ticket will be deducted.
- If you are not able to cancel the ticket 4 hours before the scheduled departure time of the train, then not a single money will be refunded after that.
- The waitlist and RAC tickets must be canceled 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time of the train. Otherwise refund will not be given.
