New Delhi: More than 7.28 crore people had filed their ITR by July 31, the last date for filing income tax returns. However, even after this date, many taxpayers have filed their income tax returns. At the same time, the refund of those whose ITR has been verified has also started coming. At the same time, for those who filed their returns between 26th and 31st of July, the timeline for ITR verification falls between 26 August and 31 August. In such a situation, these taxpayers must get their returns verified before this date.
What is the last date for ITR verification?
Actually, according to the Income Tax rules, the last date for submitting e-verification or ITR-V (offline process) is the next 30 days from the date of filing ITR. According to the data released by the Income Tax Department, a total of 7,41,37,596 ITRs were filed till Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
At the same time, till 6 pm on August 20, 2024, a total of 7,09,89,014 i.e. about 7.09 crore ITRs had been verified. In such a situation, ITR verification of 32 lakh people is still pending.
ITR refund will not be available without verification
If you have filed ITR and are entitled to refund but have not got ITR verification done within 30 days, then refund will not be available. In such a situation, those whose verification is still pending and the last date of verification is still left, they should get their ITR verified immediately. If you do not file your ITR within 30 days, it can be rejected. However, you can file late ITR, for which penalty will have to be paid.

To do ITR e-verification, first of all you can go to the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department. After verification, the process of your ITR return will be started, which takes about 1 month. However, it also depends on the form filed by you.
