ITR e-verification: Difficulty faced in e-verification while filling ITR, Income Tax Department gave this suggestion

ITR e-verification: The Income Tax Department made it clear that the income tax payers have to be filled by the given date although the Aadhaar can be done up to 120 days after filing the e-verification return through OTP or other means.




new Delhi. As the last date of filing of income tax returns is approaching, the burden on the system is also increasing, due to which technical problems have also started coming. Recently, due to technical problems, people had also demanded the extension of the last date through Twitter. Today, with the increase in complaints related to these problems, the Income Tax Department gave a clarification. The department tweeted that they have received complaints from some users that they are having difficulty in getting Aadhaar based OTP for e-verification on returns. The Income Tax Department said that they have forwarded this complaint to the concerned department.

Along with this, the Income Tax Department made it clear that the income tax payers have to fill up by the date given, although Aadhaar can be done up to 120 days after filing the e-verification return through OTP or other means. That is, the Income Tax Department has advised that taxpayers can opt for 120 days if they face difficulty in filling their returns on time. There are 3 verification options on the tax paid and verification page while filling the return. One of it is for e-verification, the other is for e-verification in 120 days and the third is for sending ITR-V signed by post in 120 days. According to the department, if there is a problem in the first option, then taxpayers can also choose the second option.




According to the Income Tax Department, more than 4 crore 30 lakh income tax returns have been filed so far. Out of the income tax returns filed, about 2.4 crore taxpayers have filed ITR-1, while more than 92 lakh have filed ITR-4. December 31, 2020 is the last date for submission of income tax returns for the individual taxpayers for the FY 2019-20 (assessment year 2020-21). At the same time, taxpayers whose accounts need to be audited, can submit income tax returns by 31 January 2021. Due to the Kovid-19 epidemic, the date of submission of income tax returns was first extended to 31 July and then to 31 October 2020, after which it has now been reduced to 31 December.
