ITR Filing: Add and validate bank account like this on Income Tax portal, otherwise you will not get refund

The last date for filing Income Tax Return is fast approaching. Meanwhile, the Income Tax Department has made a post on X and appealed to the people to validate their bank accounts so that they can get Income Tax Refund. One way of doing validation is to validate through bank account. If your account is not already linked, then you have to add a bank account to it and then validation will be done. Your refund will come in this account only.

What has the Income Tax Department written?

The Income Tax Department has written- ‘It is necessary to have a validated bank account to get the refund. Please check your bank account validation status by visiting the e-filing portal.’ Along with this, the Income Tax Department has also explained the process of validating the bank account.

View your profile on Income Tax Portal

First of all you have to login to the income tax portal. If you are a new user then you will have to first create a username password and if you are an old user then you can login using your username password.

What to do next?

After logging in, you will have to go to the profile, where you will find a drop down menu. As soon as you click on this menu, many options will open in front of you. You have to choose the option of profile settings and proceed further.

Give bank account details

In the profile settings, you will see the option of pre-validate your bank account or bank account e-verification. Click on it. After this, you will be asked for bank account information. Here you have to enter your bank name, account number, IFSC code and mobile number. Enter the mobile number which is registered with your bank.

Validate your account like this

After this, you will have to validate the account, which you can do with Electronic Verification Code (EVC) or through internet banking. If both your bank account and mobile number are linked with Aadhaar, then you should choose the EVC option. An OTP will come on your mobile, which will validate your bank account as soon as you enter it on the portal.

Then you will get a confirmation message

If internet banking is active on your account then it will redirect you directly to the bank’s site. Login to your bank account and your account will be validated. When the validation process is over, you will also get a confirmation message.
