Who fills ITI-1 form?

If your income is from salary, rented house and any other source like interest, dividend, then you have to fill ITR-1. On the other hand, if you also have agricultural income and it is less than Rs 5000, then you can put it in other sources. Most of the information of employed people will already be filled in the form, provided you have already given that information to the HR of your company.

How to fill ITR-1 form?

  • First of all you have to go to the portal for filing income tax return and login.
  • After this you have to go to E-File > Income Tax Returns > File Income Tax Return.
  • After doing this, you have to select the assessment year 2024-25 and choose the method of filing return online and click on Continue.
  • In the next step, select Status Individual and click on Continue.
  • You have to select ITR-1 from the ITR Form dropdown.
  • After that you have to choose why you are filing income tax return.
  • On the next page, you will have to fill in all the details in the sections of personal information, gross total income, total deduction, tax paid and total tax liability.
  • After this, in the last step, you will have to verify the ITR and your return will be filed and you will get the refund after some time.

In how many days does the refund come?

According to the Income Tax Department website, it takes about 4-5 weeks for the income tax refund to come. Remember, to get this refund, you not only have to file the income tax return, but also have to get it e-verified. Many times people forget to get e-verified, due to which their refund gets stuck. Refund is received in 4-5 weeks only after e-verification.

What to do if the refund fails?

It has been seen many times that people fill ITR correctly, but despite that their refund fails. If your refund does not come in 4-5 weeks, then you should once go to the Income Tax Department website and check the refund status there. If you see that the refund has failed, then you can ask for a refund again.
