Income Tax Refund: The last date for filing income tax return (ITR Filing 2024) for the financial year 2024 is very close. In such a situation, many people who have paid more tax than the payable tax are filing ITR to get their refund. When more tax is paid, the Income Tax Department returns the additional tax amount and this is called refund. However, you will get the Income Tax Refund (Income Tax Refund Status) only when the Income Tax Department processes your ITR.
Do this to get ITR return refund
If you have filed the return (ITR) within the stipulated time, then the refund money is expected to come to your bank account soon. Nowadays the Income Tax Department processes the refund quickly. The refund comes to your bank account, so while filing ITR, you should double-check your bank account number and IFSC code.
How to track income tax return status
- If you have filed your ITR and now want to check its return status (ITR Refund Status), then follow the steps given below.
- First of all go to the website www.incometax.gov.in. After this, log in to the website through your PAN and password.
- After logging in to the e-filing portal, go to the ‘e-file tab’. Select the option of ‘View Filed Return’ there. Here you will see the details of all the returns filed.
- You have to click on the option of ‘View Detail’ to see the current status. After this, the status of the ITR file will start appearing on your screen.
- If you have been sent a refund by the Income Tax Department, then you will see its details there. You will also see information like mode of payment, refund amount and date of clearance there.
Note that the last date for filing income tax returns for the financial year 2024 is 31 July 2024. That is, you should file your return as soon as possible. While filing ITR, ensure that all the information given by you to the tax department is correct, otherwise your refund may also be cancelled.
