Refund gets stuck due to wrong bank account
Before knowing how to check status, let us know what are the reasons for delay in getting refund. One of the major reasons for getting refund stuck is the mistake in the bank account details. If you have entered your account details wrong while filling the form, then your refund may get stuck due to this. In such a situation, you will have to correct the details of the account on the site of the Income Tax Department. It is also necessary to link the bank account with the PAN card. Apart from this, the refund is also delayed due to the requirement of some additional documents. The Income Tax Department sometimes demands certain documents while processing returns.
If tax is due then refund will not be given
A major reason for the delay in refunds this time is some technical glitches in the new filing portal. Due to this the work of processing the returns slowed down. However, now the technical glitches have been removed and after that the processing work has been expedited. In many cases, the refund gets stuck due to outstanding tax. However, even in this situation, the Income Tax Department informs the taxpayer by sending a notice.
ITR verification required to get refund
If you have filed the return but have not verified it, then even in such a situation the refund is bound to get stuck. Unless you verify the return, the department will not process it. If the return is not verified in time, it becomes invalid and the department assumes that you have not filed the return. There are 2 ways to verify the return. The first method is electronic, in which verification can be done from bank account or Aadhaar. Another way is to verify it by sending a signed copy of ITR-V via post.
