Jan Dhan Yojana: 55% accounts of women in Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Scheme, Learn latest updates

Jan Dhan Yojana latest update: The Finance Ministry today shared the details of those schemes which have special provision for women on Women’s Day.




Jan Dhan Yojana latest update: Ministry of Finance has said that under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) the number of women in total account holders is 55 percent. It is the flagship scheme of the government to promote financial inclusion. According to the news of PTI, the Finance Ministry today shared the details of those schemes which have special provision for women on Women’s Day. The ministry said that these schemes have made women financially capable and now they are moving forward to fulfill their dream of becoming entrepreneurs.

Loans sanctioned for 19.04 crore accounts approved

According to the news, the ministry said in a statement that as of February 24, 2021, the total number of account holders under the Jan Dhan Yojana was 41.93 crore. Among them, the number of female account holders was 23.21 crore. Regarding the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), the ministry said that till February 26, 2021, loans worth Rs 6.36 lakh crore have been sanctioned to 68 percent or 19.04 crore accounts to women entrepreneurs.

Started in 2014 (PMJDY Started in 2014)

Let us know, the announcement of Jan Dhan Yojana was done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence Day address in the year 2014. The scheme was started on 28 August of the same year. Under this, the goal was to open a bank account of at least one person in the family.

In the year 2018, the government introduced PMJDY 2.0. In this, the target was changed from every family to a deprived person of every banking facility. With this, the accident insurance cover on the RuPay card for PMJDY accounts opened after August 28, 2018 was doubled to Rs 2 lakh. The PMMY scheme started on 8 April 2015. Under this, non-corporate, non-agricultural small / micro-enterprise loans up to Rs 10 lakh are given.
