Special Trains: Indian Railways is planning to run special trains for workers. These trains will run throughout the year. Trains with non AC general category will run between the cities where there is more movement of workers. These trains will have 22 to 26 coaches. They will be run permanently throughout the year instead of seasonal. It will also be included in the regular time table, so that passengers will be able to make reservations in advance. These trains will have only sleeper and general coaches. Railway plans to start these trains from January 2024. Their fare can also be less than normal trains.
According to a report by Firstpost.com, the decision to run these trains for migrant workers and low-income people has been taken by the Railways after a study. In this, those states have been identified from where a large number of people come and go and they have to face more waiting. This decision of Railways will greatly benefit the people of states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha. These people will easily get confirmed tickets.
It will be root
A railway official told that these will run between Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Punjab, Assam, Gujarat and Delhi. Most of the workers, artisans, laborers and other people come from these states and then go back home.
Trains will run throughout the year
Railway officials say that these trains will be different from the special trains run during festivals, as they will run throughout the year. Special trains running on festivals or any other special occasion are run for some time only. The central government is making full efforts to run these trains even before the Lok Sabha elections.
Railway took care of general coach passengers
Railways has taken care of the passengers traveling in general coach. They will not have to worry about food and drink. ‘Economy Meals’ stalls will be installed in front of the general coach on the platform of the station itself. Food will be available at these stalls for just Rs.20 and drinking water for Rs.3. Passengers will get a packet of puri, vegetables and pickles in the food. It will include 7 puris, 150 grams of vegetables and pickle.
