Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the Prime Minister of the country since his independence in 1947 until his death on May 27, 1964.
The Congress on Thursday paid tribute to the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his death anniversary and remembered his contribution to the ‘creation of modern India’. On the death anniversary, the Congress shared a list of several schemes started during his reign, including the Five Year Plans, the establishment of institutions like IITs, IIMs and AIIMS, the Industrial Policy Resolution of the Bhakra-Nangal Dam Project, 1956.
The Congress said that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru brought India to the world and put our economy, our culture and our hardworking nature on the path of success. He is the creator of modern India. Recalling Nehru on the Congress’ official Twitter handle, it was written, “Under Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s rule, the country traveled from zero to the summit. During his tenure, the country made many achievements and traveled to modern India. ”
At the same time, former President of the party Rahul Gandhi went to ‘Shanti Van’ and paid tribute to the tomb of Jawaharlal Nehru. Referring to a statement by Pandit Nehru on Twitter, he wrote, “If evil grows unchecked and you tolerate that evil, then that evil destroys the entire system. On Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s death anniversary, we remember his words. ”
Pandit Nehru was a scholarly writer and thinker- Bhupesh Baghel
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel wrote on Twitter, “Pandit Nehru was a precious jewel of the land of India, who played an important role in the independence of the country and its Navnirman. Even today, indelible mark of his personality and work is written in the hearts and minds of Indians. Pandit Nehru made democracy his prime minister for the development of the country and gave India a strong foundation. Nehru was also a learned writer, thinker and thinker, a glimpse of this is found in his book ‘Glimpses of World History’ and ‘Bharat Ek Khoj’. ”
While paying tribute to the former Prime Minister, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot wrote, “There were many challenges before independent India. The country should have protection in all areas i.e. education, security, employment, infrastructure, agriculture, industry, social upliftment. Pandit Nehru transformed all the problems of the country into an opportunity and also laid the foundation of the India that we are seeing today. ”
Apart from this, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, party general secretary Randeep Surjewala and many other senior leaders of Congress paid tribute to Nehru on his death anniversary and remembered his contribution.
