Reliance Jio is expanding its 5G coverage across Indian cities at a fast pace. Within 4 months of its launch, Jio 5G deployed 5G across more than 200 cities in 29 States and Union Territories and is covering more cities in coming days. With the latest launch in Hindupur, Madanapalle, Proddatur (Andhra Pradesh), Raigarh (Chhattisgarh), Talcher (Odisha), Patiala (Punjab), Alwar (Rajasthan), Mancherial (Telangana), Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh), and Roorkee (Uttarakhand), Jio True 5G is now live in in 236 cities across India.

Meanwhile, Reliance Jio Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced that the telecom operator will complete its rollout of 5G across every town and village in Uttar Pradesh in 10 months — by December 2023. “Jio will complete its rollout of 5G to cover every town and village in this state by December of 2023. That is in ten months from today,” he said.

How to use Jio 5G

Jio is offering the 5G services on an invitational basis. Once the 5G network is ready in the area, the telecom operator will be sending a Jio Welcome Offer invite to users to connect with the new network.

Under the Jio Welcome offer, the telco is offering unlimited data at up to 1Gbps speed. Users have to make sure they are using a 5G phone and have an active recharge of Rs 239 on higher to get the 5G invite.

How to activate Jio 5G on your smartphone

To activate Jio 5G on an Android phone- Go to the phone’s Settings> Mobile network> Tap on Jio SIM> Preferred network type> Select 5G.

To activate Jio 5G on iPhone- Open Settings> Mobile Data> Jio SIM> Voice and Data> 5G AUTO. Also tap on 5G Standalone On.

Notably, the availability of the Jio 5G service and the steps to activate it on an Android or iPhone device may vary based on the device model, operating system version, and network carrier. Also the activation of Jio 5G service may also depend on the availability of 5G network coverage in your area.
