Jio News: Jio added maximum customers in August, Vi and BSNL suffered losses

Vodafone Idea (Vi) and BSNL continued to lose market share in the Indian wireless subscriber segment in August. This information has come out from a new report of TRAI. At the same time, Reliance Jio continued to add customers while maintaining its market share in the segment. Bharti Airtel also added customers in the month of August, though not as much as Jio. According to TRAI, Reliance Jio added 0.649 million wireless subscribers in August, while Bharti Airtel Telecom added 0.138 million in total.

TRAI’s latest Telecom Subscription Report for August shows that Reliance Jio’s wireless subscribers grew from 37.34 per cent in July to 37.40 per cent in August. Apart from Jio, Airtel was the only second telecom operator to add wireless subscribers with 0.13.8 million subscribers in August. Its market share increased to 29.85 per cent from 29.83 per cent in July.

The TRAI report said that Vodafone Idea lost fewer wireless subscribers in August as compared to July. The operator lost 0.833 million wireless subscribers in August, while the company lost 1.43 million subscribers in July. BSNL also continued its decline by losing 60,439 subscribers in August. According to the report, Vodafone Idea had a market share of 22.84 percent and BSNL 9.63 percent as of August.

Talking about the broadband segment, according to the TRAI report, Reliance Jio has the largest market share in August with 447.57 million subscribers. At the same time, Airtel had 205.96 million subscribers, Vodafone Idea 123.53 million subscribers, BSNL 24.28 million subscribers and Atria Convergence 1.95 million subscribers.

In the broadband segment, Reliance Jio has 55.02 percent market share and Airtel has 25.32 percent market share. At the same time, Vodafone Idea is at number three with 15.19 percent market share and BSNL’s market share is 2.98 percent.
