The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) completed the entire exercise immediately for issuing orders for termination of interviews for all Group-B (non-gazetted) and Group-C posts in the Central Government from 1 January 2016.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that in 23 states and 8 union territories, interviews for some government jobs have been terminated. He said that finishing the interview has been proved in the public interest. Minister of State for Personnel Singh said, “It also eliminates the scope of allegations of nepotism or corruption in appointments in government jobs.” He said there was a call by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015 to end the interview in his Independence Day address from the ramparts of the Red Fort. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) completed the entire exercise immediately for issuing orders for termination of interviews for all Group-B (non-gazetted) and Group-C posts in the Central Government from 1 January 2016.

Although some of the state governments had initial reservations, Singh said, he was happy to note that after consistent arguments by DoPT, most governments in the state and the union territories have seen logic in the decision. And finally decided to implement it. Even in Jammu and Kashmir, where the government did not initially implement this rule, orders have now been issued to select these posts on the basis of merit in the written examination, after assuming the rule of the Lieutenant Governor. Implement the reforms taken. While Khandekar wished for a meaningful tenure as Secretary DOPT, the Minister hoped that the process of starting the process of reforming one after the other under the new Secretary would continue. He said that one can imagine some reforms which were not possible till a few years ago, it is possible to introduce DoPT due to Prime Minister Modi’s support and personal intervention.
