KCC limit increased: Kisan Credit Card limit increased from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh

KCC limit increased: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the country’s general budget (Budget 2025) today, this is her eighth consecutive budget. The announcements to be made in it are being watched by the common people as well as the corporate world. This time the government is expected to give many big reliefs to the people on the inflation and tax front. Before the budget was presented in Parliament, a cabinet meeting was held and in this Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that this would be the budget of the common man and it would be the budget of the aspirations of poor farmers. While starting the budget speech, the Finance Minister said that this budget is especially focused on the poor, youth, food-providing farmers and women. With the start of the budget, he made a big announcement and increased the limit of Kisan Credit Card to Rs 5 lakh.

Indian economy is growing rapidly

The Finance Minister started the budget speech by telling which sectors Budget 2025 is particularly focused on. He said that our economy is growing continuously and in the last 10 years we have caught a faster pace than all the big economies. The Finance Minister said that our budget has been prepared keeping in mind the poor, youth, food provider farmers, women as well as health, manufacturing, Make in India, employment, innovations. He said that the entire focus of the government is on making the country a ‘developed India’ and we are on the path of economic development.

Two big announcements for farmers

Along with this, at the beginning of the budget, the Finance Minister announced the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Yojana for farmers. Along with this, it has been announced to increase the limit of Kisan Credit Card. The Finance Minister said that its limit has now been increased from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. Information related to this was also shared in the Economic Survey 2024-25 presented on Friday, according to which, the number of Kisan Credit Card holders in the country reached 7.75 crores.

What is Kisan Credit Card?

The Kisan Credit Card (KCC) has been introduced by the government to benefit the farmers. Through this card, loans are made available to farmers at cheap interest rates. This scheme was started in 1998 by the Government of India, Reserve Bank of India and NABARD, which was named Kisan Credit Card. Apart from farming, people doing fish farming or animal husbandry can also apply for this card. Till now its limit was Rs 3 lakh, but now the government has announced the release of new customized credit cards with a limit of Rs 5 lakh.

Benefit of crores of farmers from Dhan Dhanya Yojana

Along with the announcement of increasing the limit of Kisan Credit Card, the Finance Minister has announced the Pradhan Mantri Dhan-Dhanya Yojana (PM Dhan Dhanya Yojna), giving a big gift to the farmers. Under this scheme, 100 districts with low yield, modern crop intensity and below average loan parameters will be included. This will benefit 1.7 crore farmers.

Apart from this, he announced a six-year mission to increase self-sufficiency in edible oil. He also said that a comprehensive program will be run for fruits and vegetables.
