The decision was taken after the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) called an important board meeting on Friday, where important decisions were taken to benefit the public.
Delhi’s Arvind Kejriwal government has decided to provide three free meals every day to all the night shelter residents in the capital. This decision was taken by Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) after an important board meeting on Friday. In this, important decisions were taken to benefit the public.
According to an official statement, the meeting held at the Chief Minister’s Camp Office was attended by Delhi’s Urban Development Minister and DUSIB Vice President Saurabh Bhardwaj and officials of other departments. As per the decision, a tender will be given to a new agency to provide three meals a day to all night shelter residents.
During the meeting, the agenda related to the tender of the agency responsible for the maintenance of toilets in slums which was pending for many years was also passed. Officials told the Chief Minister that in the coming days, a tender would be floated for a new agency for the maintenance of toilets in all JJ clusters. Many slums in Delhi lack accessible toilets and only porta cabin toilets are available.
Officials said that tenders for toilets have been issued and agencies have also been appointed. These agencies will take over the maintenance of the toilets within a few days. The issue of corrupt officials came up during the DUSIB board meeting. Many former officials of DUCIB have been accused of corruption. The Board has adopted a strict stance against such corrupt officials.
Some of these cases include owning disproportionate assets. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has directed the ACB to investigate cases where officials have disproportionate assets. A retired DUSIB officer is also involved in a case of possessing disproportionate assets. The investigation of the officer by the ACB will reveal whether he has disproportionate assets or not.
Further, proposals for investigation of some serving or retired officers have been presented before the Board and the Board has ordered investigation against them.
During this, CM Arvind Kejriwal said that corruption will not be tolerated in any department of Delhi government. Whenever corruption cases come to light, the DUSIB Board has proposed strict action against them.
Meanwhile, as it happens every year, the Board has approved the tender for 250 pagoda tents to be used during winter under the Winter Action Plan implemented across Delhi. Additionally, DUCIB Board has also approved the proposal to provide its land for the construction of Mini Stadium being built by the SC/ST Department within Sultanpur Majra.
Once completed, this mini stadium will provide world-class sports training to SC and ST children, enabling them to shine in international competitions like Olympics and Commonwealth Games and bring glory to the country.
Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) under the leadership of CM Arvind Kejriwal operates 197 shelter homes with the aim of providing necessary assistance to the homeless population in Delhi. These facilities, managed around the clock by Shelter Management Agencies (SMAs), serve as vital shelters throughout the year.
