Banks issue Kisan Credit Card (KCC). This credit card can be issued to those farmers who already have an account with PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. Therefore, farmers who do not have an account in this fund, first have to open an account in it.
The first motive of the government behind issuing the Kisan Credit Card is to provide loans to the farmers at a cheaper rate to purchase agricultural related things like manure, seeds, pesticides, etc. Very little interest is charged on the loan given under this scheme. If the farmers repay the loan on time, then the interest rate on the loan is only 4%.
Through the Kisan Credit Card (KCC), farmers can take a short term loan of up to Rs 3 lakh in 5 years. Although the loan is available at 9 percent interest rate, but the government gives a subsidy of 2 percent on the Kisan Credit Card. In this way, the interest on this loan becomes 7 percent.
The biggest advantage of the Kisan Credit Card Scheme is that if the farmers return the loan taken through it on time, then they get a further rebate of 3%. In this way, they have to pay only 4% interest on the loan. Due to this, farmers cannot get cheaper loans elsewhere.
