New Delhi, February 8, 2021: A person has to go through a driving test before obtaining a Driving license (DL). The test is taken to ensure that the person applying for DL can drive a vehicle efficiently. However, the procedure of getting a driving license will get easy in the coming years.
The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued draft notifications and has sought suggestions from the people. The applicant will be issued a driving license without a test if he has learned driving from a recognized driving training centre. In such a case, the driver will be considered eligible for DL and will not have to undergo any driving test after the application.
Thousands of applications are received for a driving license every day at the Regional Transport Offices (RTO). This consumes a lot of time and makes it difficult for the candidates to take a driving test. The new rules will make the application process easy. The applicants won’t have to take a driving test if they have learned driving from the recognized driving centre. The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will also set rules for authorizing driving training centres.
The Ministry has released this draft notification on the official website. This step of the government will help reduce road accidents and increase the number of trained drivers on the road. People are taught driving during several stages at the Recognized Driving Training Center, allowing drivers to drive with ease, even on busy roads.
