Demonstrations of farmers from Punjab, UP, Rajasthan and Haryana continue on the four borders of Delhi-NCR (Shahjahanpur, Tikri, Singhu and Ghazipur). Sunday was the 129th day of the peasants’ agitation, but the rapidly dwindling number of protesters who took part in the sit-in strike along the four borders has also brought sleep to the leaders of the Bharatiya Kisan Union along with the Samyukta Kisan Morcha.
Disappointed leaders due to dwindling number of protesters
In protest against the three agricultural laws, the Delhi-UP border (UP Gate) has also been disappointed by the decreasing number of protesters in the sit-in demonstrations since November 28. In Panchayat held here on Sunday, the faces of all the leaders including the National Spokesperson of the staged Bharatiya Kisan Union, Naresh Tikait, National Spokesperson of Bharatiya Kisan Union. This frustration was clearly visible in the leaders present here, that the number of peasant protesters dwindling is not the beginning of the failure of this movement.
Fears and concerns about the performance were clearly visible on their faces. Despite the presence of BKI President Naresh Tikait in the panchayat held on Sunday, the crowd of farmers did not gather. During this time there was a crowd of only one thousand twelve hundred. In this, most panchayats came with the possibility of election benefits. In such a situation, how many days and how will the leader’s performance last? Looked worried about this.
The crowd was gathered in the Mahapanchayat on 18 March
Earlier, on March 18, there was a huge crowd of farmers on the Ghazipur border of Delhi-UP regarding the three central agricultural laws. Seeing this crowd, at the Mahapanchayat, the National President of Bharatiya Kisan Union, Naresh Tikait had said that the Central Government wants to tear the farmers into two. For this, the central government is adopting every policy, so that this dharna can be weakened. He appealed to the protesters to unite and make the dharna a success. Naresh Tikait came to the dharna at UP Gate on 18 March. During this time he also had a panchayat with Khap. He had said that we also request those who left together in the midst of time to join the dharna. May it not be that history looks at them in a wrong way.
Hundreds of millions are reduced to hundreds
Let us tell you that on November 28, 2020, when the dharna protests started against the three Central Agricultural Bills, there were crowds of millions of farmers on the four borders (Tikri, Singhu, Shahjahanpur and Ghazipur). At the same time, after the violence on the Red Fort in Delhi on 26 January, the crowd of farmers began to decrease. Now the situation is that the number of peasant protesters has come down to just 200 on some borders.
Now even the farmer leaders are unable to gather crowds
Talking about UP Gate, whenever the National Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union used to come here, the farmers used to increase the protesters. At the same time, now even big leaders are not able to mobilize. A fresh sample of this was seen in the panchayat held at UP Gate on Sunday. Naresh Tikait, president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, also reached this panchayat, but the crowd was absent.
No claims of farmers leaders are behind the decrease in crowd
Behind the dwindling number of peasant protesters on all four borders, it is being claimed that farmers are busy harvesting wheat crop, but this is not going to be digested.
