Koo App Closed: India's indigenous Twitter KOO has been shut down, many ministers including Virat Kohli used it too

Koo App Shut Down: The social media platform Koo, which once had 1 crore active monthly users, is now closed. Koo, which has been on its last legs for some time, was hoping for a partnership. However, it did not get any partnership on time and due to the rising cost of technology, the founders had to shut down this platform.

Desi social media platform Koo is finally shutting down. This social media platform entered as a rival of Twitter (now X). Koo founders Aprameya Radhakrishna and Mayank Bidawatka have informed about its closure. At one time, many VIPs, from leaders to ministers, had created their accounts on Koo.

The founders said that this social media platform is being shut down due to failure of partnership talks and high technology cost. The company started reducing the workforce from April 2023 itself.

The number of active users had reached 1 crore

There was a time when the number of daily active users of Koo had reached 21 lakhs. Not only this, the number of monthly active users of the company had reached 1 crore. 9 thousand VIP people had accounts on this platform. This platform was also promoted a lot by the leaders.

At that time, many leaders and cabinet ministers had created their official accounts on Koo. This platform was being promoted as Desi Twitter. However, despite so much success, the company, which is facing financial problems, has had to shut down its business.

Why did the app shut down?

The founders have cited the cost of technology and unexpected market capital as the reason for the shutdown of Koo. Along with this, the founders have also expressed their desire to sell some of the company’s assets. In a note issued by the founder, it is said, ‘We would be happy to share these assets with people who think of doing something great in Indian social media.’

This platform was in direct competition with Twitter. When Elon Musk bought Twitter, the number of users on this platform had increased. In their note, the founders wrote, ‘We created a product that can be scaled worldwide in a short time.’ In their farewell, the founders have written a farewell message to the supporters, team, investors, creators and users.
