Kovid-19: Canada extends ban on direct flights from India till August 21

The Canadian government has extended the ban on direct flights from India till August 21, 2021. Earlier this ban was to end on July 21. This is the fourth time the ban has been extended since the second wave of the Kovid-19 pandemic and rising cases of the delta variant of the corona virus in Canada on 22 April.




Simultaneously, Canada has also increased the requirement related to third country pre-departure COVID-19 test for passengers traveling from India to Canada through the indirect route. This announcement comes after Canada announced measures to ease travel restrictions in the country.

The ban on international flights will continue till 31 July It is

known that due to the corona virus epidemic, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has extended the ban on the movement of scheduled international commercial flights in India till 31 July 2021. This restriction will not apply to international all-cargo operations and specifically to flights approved by the aviation regulator. Flights operated under bilateral air bubble agreements with select countries will continue.

International commercial passenger flights have been suspended since the lockdown came into force from 23 March 2020 across the country. But from May 2020 onwards special international flights are flying under Vande Bharat Mission. Vande Bharat Mission was run to bring back the stranded passengers and air bubble agreement was also done with many countries. At present, India has bilateral air bubble agreements with 24 countries.
