Laptop-Tablets Import Ban: Government made a big announcement! No ban on import of laptops, tablets, computers for companies, new rules will be issued

Laptop-Tablets Import: The government’s sudden decision to ban the import of laptops and tablets is being criticized, so now the government has clarified.

Laptop-Tablets Import Ban: A day earlier on Thursday, August 3, 2023, the Modi government at the Center had decided to ban the import of laptops, tablets, and personal computers with the aim of promoting Make in India. But now it is believed that the government may delay in implementing this decision. Minister of State for Information Technology Rajiv Chandrasekhar said that new rules will be issued regarding the import of laptops, tablets and personal computers.

Rajeev Chandrashekhar said that the aim of the government is to ensure reliable hardware systems in the country as well as to reduce dependence on imports. He said that the government wants to increase domestic manufacturing of these categories of products. Responding to a user on Twitter, he said that this is not a matter of license raj but a matter of regulating imports.

The government can give some more time to the companies to apply for import. The very next day after the notification was issued, a senior government official said that no ban has been imposed on imports. Companies and traders can import laptops, tablets and IT hardware.

A senior government official said that with this decision of the government, there will be no increase in the prices of laptops, tablets and personal computers, as well as there will be no problem in the supply of these things. He said that the license for import of these things will be issued in just 5 minutes. The online license portal of DGFT is ready, which will be valid for the next one year.

He told that by tightening the import of laptops, tablets and computers, it will help in reducing India’s trade deficit with China, as well as promoting domestic manufacturing.
