The government can give some more time to the companies to apply for import. The very next day after the notification was issued, a senior government official said that no ban has been imposed on imports. Companies and traders can import laptops, tablets and IT hardware.
A senior government official said that with this decision of the government, there will be no increase in the prices of laptops, tablets and personal computers, as well as there will be no problem in the supply of these things. He said that the license for import of these things will be issued in just 5 minutes. The online license portal of DGFT is ready, which will be valid for the next one year.
He told that by tightening the import of laptops, tablets and computers, it will help in reducing India’s trade deficit with China, as well as promoting domestic manufacturing.
