This process is necessary for prepaid as well as post-paid connections. If you have not yet linked your Aadhaar Card to the mobile number, now you can do this work online from home as well. On the other hand, if you are not able to link online, then you can go to the Aadhaar center. Let us tell you the online and offline process of linking mobile to Aadhaar:
How to link new mobile number to Aadhaar
- When you buy a new SIM card from a mobile phone shop, you have to give Aadhaar to provide proof of identity and address.
- After this the operator will scan your fingerprint and verify your Aadhaar.
- The new SIM card will be issued to you only when the verification process is complete. After this, your SIM card becomes active in about an hour.
How to link Aadhaar to your existing mobile number through OTP
Online method:
– For this, first go to the website of the telecom operator.
– Now enter the mobile phone number to be linked to Aadhaar.
– After this, an OTP will appear on the number you have entered. Enter the OTP and click on the submit button.
– Now enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number.
– After this a message will be sent by the telecom operator to the OTP generation.
– After that you will get a consent message related to the e-KYC detail.
– Now you have to accept all the terms and conditions and enter the OTP generated by the telecom company.
– After this you will get a confirmation message about re-verification of Aadhaar and phone number.
Offline method:
- Go to your telecom operator’s outlet by taking a ‘self-attested copy’ of your Aadhaar card.
- Give your mobile phone number.
- The store executive will send a one-time password (OTP) to the registered phone number.
- Give executive OTP for verification.
- After this, the executive will ask for your fingerprint.
- After this you will get a confirmation SMS from your operator.
- To complete the process of e-KYC, write ‘Y’ and reply to the message.
Call a toll free number and link your mobile number and Aadhaar
- For this call 14546 from your mobile number.
- Choose whether you are Indian or NRI.
- Press 1 if you are an Indian citizen.
- After this you have to enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number.
- Now you have to confirm by pressing 1.
- After this an OTP (one time password) will be sent to your registered mobile number.
- Under the IVR process, you will be asked for consent for information such as mobile number, name, date of birth.
- Then you will be asked for OTP.
- After completing the OTP you have to press 1 to complete the verification process.
- OTP sent by mobile companies will be valid for only 30 minutes.
- After this, a message of Aadhaar verification will be sent to you.
- Aadhaar verification message means your number is linked to Aadhaar.
