The government also provides face authentication technology, which allows pensioners to easily submit their certificates using an Android smartphone from the comfort of their home or at a bank branch. Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan) is a biometric-enabled digital service designed for pensioners of central or state government agencies, Employees’ Provident Fund Organization or any other government organization. Pensioners can download Aadhaar Face RD (Early Access) from Google Play Store and install it on their Android smartphones. They will also have to download the Jeevan Pramaan application.

Invite the postman to your home and submit the life certificate.

How can pensioners submit their life certificate through postman also? You can place a request for postman to submit digital life certificate through the website of India Post Payment Bank. In this service the postman will come to your home and submit your life certificate. This doorstep service was started through Postman in 2020. To avail this service through mobile, pensioners can download PostInfo App from Google Play Store. Pensioners will have to provide Aadhaar number, mobile number, bank or post office account number and PPO number.

Submit the life certificate signed by the designated officer.

The Central Pension Accounting Office has said that if a pensioner does not want to appear before the Pension Disbursing Agency (PDA), he can submit his life certificate. For this, it is necessary for the life certificate of the pensioner to be signed by a designated official. The CPAO (Central Pension Accounting Office) scheme booklet states that these pensioners are not required to be physically present. Pensioners who cannot go to the bank to submit the life certificate can avail the doorstep banking service and submit the life certificate. In door step banking, the bank official goes to the pensioner’s home and gets the proof of survival verified. Through this service, work becomes easier for those people who are unable to go to the bank. According to SBI, senior citizens above 70 years of age and disabled including visually impaired people can avail the benefits of doorstep banking. For this service, it is necessary for pensioners to have complete KYC. Whereas a valid mobile number should be registered with the account.

The bank charges Rs 70 plus GST for financial and non-financial services including submission of life certificate. However, charges may vary depending on the bank. Some banks provide limited free doorstep banking service for senior citizens.
