Liquor Ban: Bad news! Now liquor will be banned in this state, details here

Odisha Liquor Ban There is a complete ban on drinking alcohol in Bihar. Now in the meantime, there are rumours of banning liquor in Odisha as well. The newly elected BJP government is preparing to make the state liquor free. Odisha Social Security and Empowerment of Disabled Persons Minister Nityananda Gond himself gave this indication.

Bhubaneswar. Amid the political atmosphere in Odisha, the newly elected BJP government is planning to make the state alcohol free. If not completely, the government is considering making Odisha alcohol free in a phased manner. Days after the Information and Public Relations Department denied the alcohol ban in Odisha from August 15 (Independence Day), Odisha Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Minister Nityananda Gond reiterated that the state government indeed plans to ban alcohol in the state.

He said that liquor sale cannot be promoted for fear of revenue loss. Speaking to reporters on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse, Gond said that society is getting polluted due to alcohol addiction. Alcohol has been banned at the government level in many states. Our government is also committed to do so. Necessary steps will be taken after discussing with the excise and other departments in this regard. We will try to make Odisha alcohol free in a phased manner.

The minister said that the state government will also take steps to reduce the consumption of intoxicants in the coming days to create a healthy society. It is worth mentioning that alcohol is banned in the states of Bihar, Gujarat, Mizoram and Nagaland.

Work on Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Metro Rail Project will continue – Minister

Housing and Urban Development Minister Krishnachandra Mohapatra said that to improve connectivity between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, work on the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Metro Rail Project will continue. Mohapatra said that the state budget status will be analyzed and help will be sought from the central government if needed.

He said that the work of the metro train project has been given to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. We will discuss how the work will proceed during the rainy season. We will also analyze the state budget status. If needed, we will seek help from the central government. Since there is a double engine government here and the Prime Minister has a special liking for Odisha, we are confident that the central government will provide assistance for the development of the state.
