Every state has different rules for keeping alcohol at home
Delhi- People living in Delhi can keep up to 18 liters of alcohol in their house. Which includes both beer and wine. At the same time, people here are allowed to keep more than 9 liters of rum, whiskey, vodka or gin. If a person has to take alcohol out of Delhi, then he can take only one liter of alcohol.
Haryana- In Haryana, a person can keep 6 bottles of local liquor (750 ml each), 18 bottles of IMFL (750 ml each), more than 6 bottles of imported foreign liquor, 12 bottles of beer (650 ml), 6 bottles of rum (750 ml). Apart from this, a person can also keep 6 vodka/cider/gin bottles (750 ml), and 12 wine bottles here.
Punjab- According to the legal limit in Punjab, any person can keep 1.5 liters of foreign alcoholic beverages (both Indian made and imported). Apart from this, people living in this state are also allowed to keep 2 liters 6 liters of beer.
Uttar Pradesh: People living in Uttar Pradesh can keep 1.5 liters of foreign alcoholic beverages (both Indian made and imported), 2 liters of wine 6 liters of beer, according to the legal limit.
Andhra Pradesh- Residents of Andhra Pradesh can keep up to three bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) or foreign liquor and six bottles of beer in their house without a permit.
Arunachal Pradesh- Without a valid liquor license, possession of more than 18 litres of IMFL or country liquor is prohibited in Arunachal Pradesh under the Excise Act.
West Bengal: Here, a person above the age of 21 years can purchase and keep 6 bottles (750 ml each) of Indian Made Foreign Liquor. Additionally, they can store up to 18 beer bottles without a license.
Assam- In Assam, retail sales can sell up to 12 bottles of IMFL, 4.5 litres of rectified or denatured spirit and 3 bottles (750 ml each) per person per day.
Goa- Residents here can keep 12 IMFL bottles, 24 beer bottles, 18 country liquor bottles and 6 bottles of rectified and denatured spirit at home.
Himachal Pradesh: Here a person can keep 48 beer bottles and 36 whiskey bottles at home.
Kerala- In Kerala, 3 liters of IMFL and 6 liters of beer are allowed at home.
Madhya Pradesh- High-income individuals can keep 100 “expensive” liquor bottles at home.
Maharashtra- A license is required for anyone to drink alcohol in Maharashtra. Apart from this, people here need a permit to purchase, transport and consume both domestic and imported alcoholic beverages.
Rajasthan- Can keep up to 12 bottles (or nine litres) of IMFL at home.
Jammu and Kashmir: People living here can keep up to 12 bottles of IMFL (including 750 ml JK Desi whisky) and 12 beer bottles (650 ml each) at their homes.
Dry states: Mizoram, Gujarat, Bihar, Nagaland and Lakshadweep are dry states. Alcohol is completely banned in these states. If someone violates the law here, it can have serious consequences.
