Earlier, the operators running licensed bars in hotels had to buy liquor from 2 liquor shops nearby. This time, the government has changed the policy and given another option to the hotel operators. Now they will be able to buy liquor from any of the 3 nearby shops. It is also a condition that all the three liquor shops should be owned by different license holders.
No change in fees of L-1 and L-13 licenses
The new excise policy has increased the reserve price by 7 percent compared to last year, while the price of liquor has increased less. Earlier, 50 to 60 rupees per box were increased. This time an increase of 20 to 25 rupees per box has been made. There has been no change in the fees of L-1 (English wholesale) and L-13 (country liquor wholesale) licenses. Liquor shops in villages can be opened 50 meters away from the Firni, an annual fee of Rs 20 lakh will have to be paid to open the shop after 12 o’clock.
Financial year started from today
Earlier the financial year of the Excise and Taxation Department used to start from April 1 and end on March 31, but after Covid, its rules have changed. Now it runs from June 12 to June 11. For this reason, the new excise policy has been implemented in the state from June 12. If we look at the figures for the year 2022-23, the government had set a target of Rs 471 crore for revenue earning from contracts. The income was much more than that, at Rs 558 crore. In the year 2023-24, sales of more than Rs 922 crore have been done, more than the target of Rs 760 crore. The government has set a target of Rs 813 crore for the year 2024-25.
