Instructions have been given to stop illegal smuggling of liquor in UP at all costs. People under 21 years of age will not be able to buy alcohol.
Minister of State for Excise (Independent Charge) Nitin Agarwal has directed to raise revenue of Rs 50 thousand crore in the financial year 2023-24. On Monday, he held a review meeting with the Principal Secretary Excise, Excise Commissioner and senior officials.
In this he said that till November, revenue of Rs 27,340.97 crore has been received, which is about 10 percent more than the revenue received last year. He instructed not to sell liquor to people below 21 years of age under any circumstances.
He asked the Deputy Excise Commissioner of Kanpur to submit a report within 15 days if the revenue target is short. Asked to keep a special watch on smuggling of liquor from Agra, Mathura, Lucknow Highway via Bundelkhand Highway via Mirzapur via Sonbhadra and also asked to seek cooperation from GST and Police Department officials in this regard. Smuggling should not take place under any circumstances. Instructions were given to take immediate action on receiving complaints of over rating.
