Loan Moratorium: Petition on RBI Governor and SBI officials, accused of ignoring Supreme Court order

Loan Moratorium: A petitioner has filed a petition against several bank officials, including the Reserve Bank Governor, SBI officer, chairman, for ignoring the Supreme Court order regarding loan moratorium.




A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court (Petition filed against RBI), complaining of contempt of court judgment against Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das and officials of State Bank of India. Petitioner Ajay Kumar said that the Supreme Court had issued an order on 3 September 2020. This order is related to the Moratorium. The court had said that the account which is not NPA till 31 August 2020 should not be declared NPA until further orders.

The petitioner says that I was issued a demand notice on 1 September 2020 and was told that the account is NPA. There is no mention in that notice on which date my account has been declared non performing. I was not even issued a show cause notice in this regard. The bank has executed this action against the Supreme Court’s decision of 3 September.

Compensation also demanded

The petitioner, through his petition, demanded strict action against those who disobeyed the court order. Along with this, he has also demanded compensation to compensate for his reputations. Apart from this, he has demanded a grant for 90 days so that he can repay the debt. He said that if the bank wants to declare my loan as NPA, then I should be informed 90 days in advance.




Respondents made many people

The petitioner has included the branch manager, chief manager, SBI chairman, RBI governor, chief executive of the Indian Bank Association as the respondents of the SBI branch from which the loan is taken. He has also demanded compensation for issuing the notice.
