According to a survey shared days before the Lok Sabha elections, unemployment remains a major issue for voters in India, with 27 percent of respondents claiming that it will be an important issue in the upcoming elections. The seven-phase elections will begin on April 19 and continue till June 1, with counting of votes taking place on June 4.

Other major issues include corruption
Other major issues raised by respondents included corruption. 55 per cent of respondents expressed the view that corruption has increased during the last five years – an opinion shared equally among both the rich and the poor. Political analyst and poll expert Sanjay Kumar, who is co-director of Lokniti CSDS, shared the survey on X, saying, “19% also believed that there has been a decline, while another 19% expected no change.” “Said the thing.”

Also asked about farmer protests
Voters were also asked about the recent farmer protests demanding legal assurance for minimum support price (MSP) for crops and complete farm loan waiver. The protests have become a significant point of contention, with the survey revealing that nearly 60 per cent of respondents claimed that the farmers’ demands are genuine.
Sanjay Kumar said, 63 percent of the respondents supported the farmers’ protest, meanwhile, 16% of the respondents felt that it was a conspiracy against the government while others were unaware of the issue.
‘Development is for all (Sabka Vikas)’
The pre-poll survey also revealed that 48% of respondents believed that development is for all (Sabka Vikas), while 15% claimed otherwise and others did not respond. The survey was conducted by CSDS, an institute for research in the social sciences and humanities. More than 10,000 voters were randomly selected for the pre-election survey.
