LPG cylinder: The central government has taken a big decision to provide relief to the people who are suffering from inflation. Which you can also benefit from. But there are terms and conditions for that. A grant of Rs 1,650 crore has been sanctioned under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
The LPG cylinder prices of 33 crore consumers were reduced by a total of Rs 200 by the government. So under this Ujjwala scheme, customers will get Rs 400 per cylinder at a lower price. Let’s know how in detail.
This scheme was launched in 2016 by the central government. It has been started to free the poor women of the country from smoking. At present, a total of 10 crore families have been connected with this scheme. Note that the beneficiaries of Ujjwal are currently being given a subsidy of Rs.200. Thus, the total discount available on the scheme has been increased to Rs 400 per cylinder.

Under the Ujjwala Yojana, only the Below Poverty Line (BPL) people are getting the benefit of cheap cylinders. To register under Ujjwala Yojana, the beneficiaries have to upload their ration card (BPL card). BPL card is available only to below poverty line families and in India, this card is issued to families whose annual income is less than 27 thousand rupees.
Know the eligibility
Talking about the eligibility of this scheme, the age of woman should be 18 years to apply for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Before availing the scheme note that the beneficiary household should not have any other LPG connection from any gas agency already. The benefit of this scheme is being given to the general poor, scheduled castes, tribes and very backward families.

- Water bill, electricity bill, driving license and residence certificate for proof of address
- Applicant’s Job Card
- Aadhaar card of all family members
- Survey Number and Mobile Number of BPL
- Approval by village chief
- Photo copy of BPL card
