LPG cylinder: In May 2020, the government of New Delhi had canceled the subsidy on LPG cylinders, but now it can be restored again. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas is considering fixing a limit for the subsidy. Business Standard quoted a senior official of the ministry as saying that a survey is being conducted for this.
Today’s LPG Price with Subsidy – Rs.893.50 for 14.2 kg
According to the official, various options are being considered for this. One option among these is that subsidy should be given only to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Due to the cost of cylinders, a large number of beneficiaries of this scheme are not refilling. In May 2020, the government had made the subsidy on LPG Nil. At that time the price of 14.2 kg LPG cylinder in Delhi was Rs 581.50. Today its price has reached Rs 884.50 but the government has not restored the subsidy.
So far has subsidized
giving subsidies following on LPG in Delhi but the center still some states in freight costs as subsidies Is. The amount of subsidy varies from state to state but it is less than Rs.30. An official said that a survey is being done. With this, efforts are being made to find out at what rate consumers can easily buy LPG cylinders. The government wants to keep its prices under control.
The official said that the government is keeping a close watch on the prices and its consumption is coming down as per the trends. The beneficiaries of PMUY are financially weak, so only those are being considered for subsidy. A decision in this regard will be taken only after the results of this survey. It is believed that by March 2022, the number of LPG consumers in the country will be more than 300 million. Of these, about 20.7 crore consumers are regular consumers. That is, they are not included in PMUY. At present, all the consumers are not getting any subsidy for filling the cylinder.
UJVALA plan
government Ujjwala’s customers scheme is 14.2 kg cylinder and stove. It costs around Rs 3200 and gets subsidy of Rs 1600 from the government while Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) give Rs 1600 as advance. However, these companies charge the subsidy amount as EMI on refill. But now this too can be changed. Now these companies will charge an advance payment of Rs 1600. The government will continue to give subsidy of the remaining 1600 in the scheme.
