Maharashtra: 5 killed in vehicle collision on Mumbai – Pune Expressway

At least five people were killed and five others were injured in a massive collision between several vehicles on the Pune Expressway.

At least five people killed and five others were injured in a massive collision between multiple vehicles on Mumbai – Pune Expressway near Khopoli in the Raigarh district of Maharashtra on Monday night.




The injured and bodies of the deceased have been taken to Khapoli hospital and MGM hospital, Vashi.

The tragic accident took place at 1 am when speeding cars and a truck, running over the expressway, rammed into each other.

According to a report, the collision occurred after a high speed truck driver lost control of his vehicle. It was told that the vehicle first hit the tempo, which overturned and got stuck in a pit dug between the two lanes. The truck later hit two other cars.




Those killed include three women and truck drivers from two different vehicles. Soon after the accident, the ambulance, highway team and police reached the spot. The bodies of the dead have been sent to Khopoli Rural Hospital and the injured have been taken to Mumbai.

The vehicle was completely damaged in the accident. Efforts are on to remove the vehicle and resume traffic smoothly during police and relief rescue personnel.
