Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested the director of a YouTube channel from Andheri. One kg of charas has been recovered from director Gautam Dutta. Its price in the market is being said to be around Rs 50 lakh. The police suspect that Gautam supplies charas to film actors.
Mumbai Police on Friday arrested the director of a YouTube channel and one kilo of charas was recovered from him. Its price in the market is being said to be around Rs 50 lakh. In this regard, an official said that Gautam Dutta (43) was arrested by the Anti-Drug Cell (ANC) of Mumbai Crime Branch from suburban Andheri (West).
He said that Dutta, a resident of Juhu-Versova Link Road area, runs a channel on YouTube and is also the director of this channel. The official said that he is well-connected with Bollywood and is suspected to be supplying charas to film actors.
Actress Rakul Preet Singh appears before ED
On Friday, actress Rakul Preet Singh appeared before the ED in connection with the money laundering probe in connection with the busting of a gang of drug smugglers in Hyderabad in 2017. The ED had summoned him to appear.
Earlier, the ED had summoned 10 celebrities of the Telugu film industry in connection with the sensational gang supplying expensive narcotics like LSD and MDMA. This gang was busted by Telangana’s Prohibition and Excise Department. The ED has questioned Telugu film director Puri Jagannath and actress Charmi Kaur in this case.

The drug syndicate was busted in July 2017 and several cases related to drug trafficking were registered and more than 20 people, including an American national, a Portuguese national, a South African national, were arrested. Apart from this, seven people holding BTech degree working in multinational companies were arrested here.
The names of some people from Tollywood (Telugu film industry) had come up during interrogation of those arrested in connection with the gang. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Telangana Prohibition and Excise Department had also probed the alleged narcotics case related to Tollywood and then 11 people associated with Telugu film industry were questioned. He was questioned by the SIT to find out whether he had any relation, either as a customer or a supplier, with those arrested in the case. At that time the SIT had also questioned Rakul Preet. He was also questioned by the NCB in connection with the investigation related to the death of Sushant Singh Rajput last year.
