However, the pilot of this aircraft survived and the Naval Headquarters had ordered an inquiry into the incident. Let us tell you that ‘MiG-29K’ is a fighter aircraft developed by the Russian space aviation company Mikoyan (MiG). The Indian Navy had bought 45 ‘MiG-29K’ aircraft from Russia a decade ago for about US$ 2 billion.
The Navy had said in its statement that the MiG-29K aircraft was on a regular flight over the sea in Goa and while returning to the naval base, it developed a technical fault. The pilot ejected safely and was immediately traced by a search and rescue operation. A board of inquiry has been constituted to find out the cause of the incident.
