There has been a big IED blast in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar. There is information that 10 policemen were martyred in the blast. It is believed that the Naxalites had fitted the IED. There are also reports of injuries to some policemen.
A major Naxalite attack took place in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar division on Wednesday. Eleven DRG (District Reserve Guard) personnel, including the driver of the vehicle, were killed in a landmine blast in Dantewada district. The vehicle carrying the jawans got hit by an IED planted by Naxalites near Aranpur in Dantewada. When the vehicle was blown apart with a big explosion, the soldiers sitting in it died on the spot.
Officials said that on information about the presence of Maoist cadre, the DRG force was dispatched from Dantewada for anti-Naxal operations. While returning after the operation, the Maoists detonated a landmine on the Aranpur road. In this incident, 10 DRG jawans involved in the operation were martyred and one driver died. He said that after getting information about the incident, additional force has been sent to the spot.
Confirming the incident, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has expressed grief. On the other hand, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the CM of Chhattisgarh over phone and assured him of all possible help. Baghel said that this fight is in the final stages and the Naxalites will not be spared under any circumstances. Naxalism will be eradicated in a planned manner.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel tweeted that after getting information about the presence of Naxalites, these jawans had gone on the campaign. He tweeted, ‘The news of the martyrdom of our 10 DRG jawans and a driver due to the IED blast on the DRG force which arrived for anti-Naxal operation on the information about the presence of Maoist cadre under the police station Aranpur area of Dantewada is extremely sad. We all the people of the state pay our respects to him. We all share in the grief of their families. May his soul rest in peace.
