MBBS Fees Cut: Fees have been reduced for both management quota and government quota in these colleges.
GMERS Medical Colleges: The Gujarat government has given relief news for the students who wish to study medicine. They have reduced the MBBS fees in 13 colleges of Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society (GMERS) run by the state government. Actually, some time ago the state government had increased the fees, after which students and political parties protested.
The Gujarat government has decided in a cabinet meeting in Gandhinagar that the fees for students pursuing medical studies MBBS will be reduced. This decision was taken under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. State Health Minister Rishikesh Patel said that the government has decided to reduce the fees for 2,100 MBBS seats in 13 GMERS colleges. This is being done to help the students.
The Gujarat government has reduced the MBBS fees. The fee for government seats has come down from Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 3.75 lakh, which is a reduction of 31.8 percent. The fee for management quota seats has been reduced from Rs 17 lakh to Rs 12 lakh, which is a reduction of 29.4 per cent. This new fee structure will be applicable from 2024-25.
Last month, the Gujarat government had issued a notification to increase the MBBS fees of GMERS colleges. The annual fee for government quota seats was increased from Rs 3.3 lakh to Rs 5.5 lakh, while the management quota fee was increased from Rs 9 lakh to Rs 17 lakh. After protests by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the threat of agitation by the Gujarat Congress, the government decided to reconsider the fee hike.
