Metro Charges: Metro Rail officials are impressing by announcing discounts to impress passengers. The Chennai Metro Rail Corporation has recently decided to reduce fares, giving good news to Metro Rail passengers. Metro has reduced train fares to Rs 50 to increase passenger numbers. Metro train services are available in many major cities of the country. Chennai Metro train fares are slightly higher compared to other cities. The government has suspended Metro rail services due to the high incidence of the corona virus. Metro services resumed in September last year after the corona spread declined. About 44.96 lakh people traveled from there till January.




Earlier, CMRL had announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would launch the Metro Rail expansion project from Washermenpet in North Chennai to Winkonagar on May 14. However, the metro expansion is likely to be postponed as these works have not been completed. The governor said it would be re-launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by the end of the month or by March. Currently, Metro charges a minimum of Rs 10 and a maximum of Rs 60. However, the authorities have decided to reduce the maximum charge to Rs 50. Concessions are being offered to those who travel on Sundays and holidays. Chennai Metro is also offering a discount of up to Rs 50 per ticket on senior citizens.
