IRCTC Metro Ticket Booking: Like train tickets, now you can also book metro tickets from home. Now, not only train tickets but also metro tickets will be booked from IRCTC’s app and website. That is, IRCTC will now be able to book metro tickets in advance apart from rail. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Center for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) have joined hands to promote ‘One India, One Ticket’.

For train reservations from IRCTC’s website, you get the facility of 4 months i.e. 120 days advance ticket booking. Similarly, now you can also book 120 days in advance to travel by metro. Once booked, the ticket will also be valid for 4 days. Whereas currently the validity of metro ticket is also only for one day. Metro ticket will be valid 2 days before and 2 days after the scheduled date of travel. That is, even if you reach early or late, your money will not be wasted and you will be able to travel with the same metro ticket. If for any reason the train ticket has to be cancelled, the metro ticket can also be cancelled along with it.

How will the booking be done

Metro tickets can be booked through IRCTC’s website and app. Once booked, the ticket will be valid for 4 days. Whereas currently the validity of metro tickets is also only for one day. Changes will be made in the booking system of Delhi Metro Rail for booking metro tickets from IRCTC. Metro tickets with QR code will be booked, their QR codes will be printed on the train tickets. People can take a printout of it and keep it with them or they can use it by taking a screenshot in the phone.

Beta version launched

The beta version of IRCTC’s mobile app has been launched for booking metro tickets. Currently, it will only run on phones with Android operating system. After a trial period of 4 months, it will be launched in full version with necessary changes. Advance booking of metro tickets will reduce the long queues outside the ticket windows at metro stations.
