Milk Price Hike: Inflation has hit the people of Karnataka. State Cooperative Minister K N Rajanna said that the price of milk will increase by Rs 4 per liter from April 1. He said that this decision has been taken due to the pressure of milk unions and farmers.
Decision taken on the demand of milk unions
The minister said, “The milk unions had demanded an increase of Rs 5 per liter, but the government decided to increase it by Rs 4. This entire Rs 4 will be given directly to the farmers.”
The prices were increased by Rs 2 in 2024
Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) sells its dairy products under the ‘Nandini’ brand. In 2024, KMF had increased the price of a packet of milk by Rs 2 and also increased the quantity by 50ml. At that time KMF had said that this was not an increase because the quantity of milk was also increased. Currently, Nandini toned milk (blue packet) is priced at Rs 44 for 1,050ml.
This hike has been done after the hike in bus, metro fares and electricity rates. KMF president Bhima Naik had already predicted the possibility of increase in milk prices.
