Google Pay: No convenience fee will be charged on mobile recharge plans priced below Rs 100, while recharge plans priced up to Rs 200 and Rs 300 will be charged Rs 2 and Rs 3 respectively. A convenience fee of Rs 3 will be charged on transactions above Rs 300.

Recharging mobile with the help of online payment app Google Pay has now become expensive. If you also want to buy mobile recharge plan through UPI service, then now you will have to spend more money. However, the search giant has not yet made any announcement related to the introduction of convenience fee on its payment app.

Google Pay is charging more money – claim

Tipster Mukul Sharma, through X (formerly Twitter), has claimed to be paid a convenience fee by the platform. He said that Google Pay has started charging convenience fee for mobile recharge plans. He has also shared a screenshot, which shows that Google is charging Rs 3 for a recharge. In the screenshot, Jio had Rs 749 prepaid recharge plan, against which Google Pay charged Rs 752. The screenshot shows that the convenience fee is inclusive of GST. Convenience fee is visible for both UPI and card transactions.

How much will be charged on each recharge

According to the tipster, mobile recharge plans priced below Rs 100 will not be charged convenience fee, while recharge plans priced up to Rs 200 and Rs 300 will be charged Rs 2 and Rs 3 respectively. A convenience fee of Rs 3 will be charged on transactions above Rs 300.

According to My Smart Price, the company updated the Google Terms of Service for users in India earlier this month and Google is about to start charging for the new feature fee. Now the app has reportedly started charging convenience fees from users on purchasing mobile recharge plans through the UPI service.
